THE NEW EVALUATION OF PRIMARY SCHOOL

THE NEW EVALUATION OF PRIMARY SCHOOL

Assessment is a very important part of every child's educational path, it serves:

  1. To give value to what children learn;
  2. To help children improve;
  3. To get good results and grow in the best way.

The Ministry has issued the Ministerial Ordinance no. 172 of 04/12/2020 which eliminates the formulation of the numerical vote and replaces it with a descriptive judgment.

The judgment expressed allows to better describe, for each student, the progress, strengths and skills to be enhanced.

This evaluation is educational and tells what children can do.

Therefore, in the evaluation document of your child you will no longer find the "grades", but the levels achieved in relation to the objectives of each subject.

THE NEW ASSESSMENT DOCUMENT CONTAINS

  1. The disciplines, that is, the "subjects": Italian, mathematics, history...
  2. Learning objectives: knowledge and skills that children must learn;
  3. The level of learning: how much and how the children learned the topics.
  4. Descriptive judgment: the description of children's knowledge and learning.
  5. The evaluation of the teaching of the Catholic religion or alternative discipline remains the same as in previous years (excellent, distinct, good ...)
  6. The overall judgment and evaluation of behavior are expressed as in the past with a detailed explanation.

THE LEVELS OF LEARNING ARE:

  1. ADVANCED
  2. INTERMEDIATE
  3. BASE
  4. IN THE PROCESS OF FIRST ACQUISITION

HOW TO DEFINE THE LEVELS:

The levels of learning are defined on the basis of the surveys and direct observations of the teachers regarding the criteria of autonomy, continuity, use of learning actions and known and unknown situation.

For pupils with disabilities, descriptive judgments are consistent with the objectives of the Individualized Educational Plan.

For pupils with Specific Learning Disorders or Special Educational Needs, the Personalised Teaching Plan will be taken into account.
